Moon says Unification prayer ends “in the name of the True Parents” because God is the greatest teacher, king of kings, and the First Parent. The formula is therefore not a displacement of God by human figures. It is a claim that the parental position God intended has finally been restored on earth through True Parents.

That matters because prayer language encodes theology. If God is the first True Parent, then praying in the name of True Parents says the gap opened by the Fall between God’s parenthood and human family life is being bridged again. The prayer formula assumes restored relational order, not merely denominational identity.

This also reframes a possible outsider objection. The phrase can sound sectarian or overly specific. In Moon’s logic, however, it is specific for the same reason Christian prayer “in Jesus’ name” is specific: it names the providential channel through which relationship has been restored.

Sermon use

Prayer endings are miniature creeds. They reveal what a community thinks has happened in history and by what name it believes restored access to God now comes.
