Theme
Numbers are downstream of obedience. A church that gets faithfulness right does not have to chase growth — growth comes looking for it. We are not here to grow a church. We are here to be faithful to the One who grows churches.
Opening (1–2 min)
“One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.” — Luke 16:10
- We hear “growth” and we flinch. It sounds like marketing.
- It isn’t. The growth that matters is not numbers. It’s faithfulness widening its circle.
- A river doesn’t strain to grow. It just keeps flowing toward what’s lower than it. Wider banks are a side effect.
- This morning we are not asked to be impressive. We are asked to be faithful.
- And we sing as people who trust that what God grows, God grows.
Runner-up quote: “Health produces growth, not the other way around.” — Rick Warren, The Purpose Driven Church
Songs
- Goodness Of God — re-centers us on the Giver, not the gift
- 10,000 Reasons (Bless The Lord) — long obedience; faithfulness over decades
- Gratitude — the posture underneath all faithfulness
- Blessed Be Your Name — both seasons; the well stays full
- Way Maker — God doing the growing, not us
- Hills And Valleys — faithful in plateau; faithful in increase
Runner-up: By and By — when the older saints in the room need to hear that long faithfulness counts
Beyond repertoire — worth learning:
- Faithful (Brooke Ligertwood / Hillsong) — “faithful, You are faithful” — names the theme without metaphor; congregational
- Yes I Will (Vertical Worship) — “I count on one thing, the same God that never fails” — handles the in-between season honestly
Closing Prayer (1–3 min)
- Father, You are not impressed by numbers and we don’t want to be either.
- But we also don’t want to use “we don’t chase numbers” as a hiding place from faithfulness.
- Make us faithful in the small things — the welcome, the prayer, the quiet word, the kept promise.
- And then, if You see fit, grow what You grow. We will trust You with the size of it.
- Keep our hands open. Keep our eyes on You, not on the count.
- Prepare us now to hear the Word — not as a strategy, as a calling.
- In True Parents’ name. Aju.
